The information legend is divided into sections based on the German states. Each section contains information about the population, area and density. The information legend is located on the edge of the puzzle.

Cartographer John Spilsbury is credited as the inventor of the jigsaw puzzles. The first puzzle he created was a map puzzle for educational purposes. He made the first puzzle map in 1766.
